Two Influenza-Related Deaths Confirmed in Flathead County

The Flathead Beacon reports that two people in Flathead County have died due to circumstances related to influenza, according to the Flathead City-County Health Department. Both people were over the age of 65. “Due to the confirmed influenza presence in Flathead County, it is now more important than ever to be vaccinated against influenza to protect everyone, including the most vulnerable populations,” the health department said in a press release. Is it too late to get a flu shot? We did some research and the answer is mostly no. A shot now will provide some help, although getting it earlier gives the vaccine more time to build up your immunity. There has been some question about the effectiveness of this year’s flu shot, though. Some say that based on how well it did in Australia, it may at best be only 10% effective.
