Trails of the Past Series

By | October 28, 2014

While cruising around the web we found a website called Trails of the Past by the US Forest Service: An historical overview of the Flathead National Forest from 1800 through 1960.  Information about fire detection, suppression, and prevention was especially interesting including an early photo of Hornet Lookout. There is also information on mining, missionary activities, transportation, communication, etc.  Check out the table of contents here.

Love it! Thanks for finding and sharing this web site.
I’ll have a good read while the snow falls on Saturday.

I agree. Someone obviously did a lot of research to put this sight together and I know that there are many folks on the North Fork who will enjoy reading it. And our first real snow of the winter… how fun!
