New Years Eve 2016

By | January 1, 2017

What a party! Delicious food, wonderful music, rare entertainment, and friends both old and new joining in all the fun. It’s difficult to guess how many people came, but it easily exceeded expectations.

What a crowd!

Some quick highlights. The live band played throughout the evening. In between, everyone old and young got onto the dance floor. Although everyone danced well, Duke and Naomi Hoiland outshone us all. Fireworks exceeded all expectations. And afterwards, Joyce O’Hara and the Johnny Oettes (that would be Debo Powers and Janet Leigh) joined to sing some Patsy Cline songs. A rare treat.

One of the highlights of the evening was the announcement of the new Mrs. Polebridge 2017. The event started with Janet Leigh as Mrs. Polebridge 2016 giving a moving farewell address. Then Rachael Peura announced the winners for 2017. Second runner up Naomi Hoiland, first runner up Kevin Halsey, and the winner of the Mrs. Polebridge 2017… Joyce O’Hara.

We want to thank John O’Hara for providing the live music along with Steve Kuehl on the guitar and vocals, and Bob Mislivec on the accordian. What a treat having such excellent live music! And thank you Debo Powers for getting us all dancing with confidence. Let’s do it some more in 2017.

We also want to thank Tom Holycross for blowing out the parking lot, Alan Peura for clearing paths to the outhouse and generator shed, and Matt Nerdig for being master of the fireworks. And a special big thanks to Richard and Suzanne Hildner for taking away all of the garbage. Finally, thanks to all the folks who came early to help set up and stayed late to help clean up.

The party’s success was due in no small part to the effort made by everyone who drove the horrible road, brought food, and joined in with such spirit. It was the very best way to greet 2017 that we can think of.

My apologies for not having taken more photos of more people. I was having way too much fun and forgot. Don’t forget to click on a photo to start the slide show.
