Even with rain, Logan Pass still slated to open today

Jim Mann of the Daily Inter Lake reports that Glacier National Park has incurred some wind and rain problems the last couple of days, but Going-to-the-Sun Road is scheduled to open over Logan Pass this afternoon, provided that the weather doesn’t get too rough. Forecasts call for continued rain showers, wind gusts up to 40 mph and possible snow today in the park. As of Thursday afternoon, snow was falling at higher elevations; about one inch of slush was on the alpine section of Sun Road. The temperature at Oberlin Bend, just west of Logan Pass, was 30 degrees, and crews were removing mud and rock debris from the road to prepare it for vehicle traffic. Read the full story here.
