From Bill Walker…

Note on revised area closures: Cyclone Lookout is now accessible. Red Meadow Road, including the campground is now open. Coal Creek Road is open. The Hay Creek Road is still closed, but the closure now starts past the turn-off for Cyclone Lookout Road (Road 909).  The Moose Creek and Whale Creek roads are still entirely closed.

The current set of fire perimeter maps is attached, as well as a couple of fire photos.

Area fires remain fairly quiet, with the exception of the southwest perimeter of Glacier Park’s Howe Ridge fire which is still producing smoke from the southwest perimeter.

The Whale Butte fire is still at 515 acres with containment at 83%. Fire activity is minimal, with one small area generating smoke. The fire is at “patrol and monitor” status.

Coal Ridge is still at 280 acres. Containment is 62%. This one isn’t going anywhere. There will be no more reports unless something changes significantly.

Howe Ridge is at 13,492 acres, up from 13,037. Containment is still at 15%. The fire is holding east of the Inside North Fork Road. There were more burnouts and water drops along this section and likely more today. This blaze is still responsible for the local smoke.

The Boundary Fire is at 1738 acres, up from 1709. Containment is still 12%. Firefighters are continue to use crews and water drops to keep the fire west of Boundary Creek and out of Canada.

The Paola Ridge Fire is at 887 acres and 45% containment. It still shows slow growth but US2 remains open, as do BNSF operations.
