From Bill Walker…

The current set of fire perimeter maps is attached.

Area fires remain fairly quiet, with the exception of the southwest perimeter of Glacier Park’s Howe Ridge fire which generated a fair bit of smoke yesterday.

The Whale Butte fire is still at 515 acres with containment now up to 83%, up from 75%. Crews are still cleaning up slash and other debris along fuel break areas. Otherwise, this blaze is on “patrol and monitor” status. Fire activity is minimal.

Coal Ridge is still at 280 acres. Containment is 62%, up from 60%. This one isn’t going anywhere, just some smoldering and creeping.

Howe Ridge is at 13,037 acres, up from 12, 857 after yesterday’s activity. Containment is still at 15%. The advance along the southwest perimeter was stoped at the fuel break established long the Inside North Fork Road. Fire behavior was minimal otherwise. Crews are doing additional clean-up and hazard tree removal along the inside road.

The Boundary Fire is at 1709 acres. Containment is now 12%, up from 0%. The northern perimeter is secure. Crews are working on establishing fire line to keep the blaze west of Boundary Creek. In general, minimal fire behavior is expected.
