County lifts fire restrictions

The Daily Inter Lake reports that the Flathead County commissioners on Thursday lifted all fire restrictions within the county. The unanimous vote rescinds both Stage 1 and Stage 2 restrictions. Flathead County’s removal of fire restrictions followed similar action over the Labor Day weekend by the U.S. Forest Service, the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation and Glacier National Park. This, of course, doesn’t mean that open burning is allowed. The county’s website says that debris burning season is closed at least until October 1 and will only be opened then if conditions permit. Wise North Forkers wait until there’s snow on the ground to burn.
