Bike to Kintla Lake

There is still time to mountain bike to Kintla Lake before the road opens on Friday!  A group of three North Fork bikers made the 30-mile roundtrip journey from the Polebridge Ranger Station on Tuesday of this week.  The day was a perfect blend of sunny skies and cool breezes.  Best of all, there was no traffic (except for 2 park vehicles).   Our journey took us through Big Prairie and Round Prairie that are lush and green from spring rains.  The narrow road winds its way upward toward the lake.  At times, we passed through Ponderosa Pines that are hundreds of years old.  The campground and lake were quiet and peaceful.  This is a unique time to visit before the onslaught of park visitors.  For a shorter trip, park your car where the road is gated and bike to the lake from there.
