Betsy Bear has twins!

By | May 24, 2014

Fish, Wildlife, and Parks bear specialist Tim Manley wrote to a North Fork neighbor… I just wanted to let you know that “Betsy” has two new cubs of the year. We got a couple of visuals of her and two cubs at the den. She denned up Wedge Canyon and was still at the den on May 12th. The Whale Creek female, which we believe is the mother of Patti and Betsy, was still in her den on May 12th. We suspect she might have new cubs also. “Patti” is not radio-collared, so we don’t have any information about her.

So this is good news, but everyone needs to be aware that Betsy is pretty comfortable coming around North Fork structures, so please be extra careful not to leave out attractants.  We don’t want her cubs to learn bad habits early!
